Cala Saladeta
Not far from the lively town of San Antonio, Cala Saladeta is the little sister beach to Cala Salada – which was once named Europe’s best beach. Saladeta provides a more intimate, cosy vibe to the slightly larger and busier Salada. Both however, offer picturesque views of the Ibizan hillsides and a shimmering blue sea in which to frolic. Due to its unspoilt, tranquil nature, you’ll find no amenities there, so be sure to pack a picnic and umbrella. Plus a camera for those instaworthy shots!
Salinas
The beach of Salinas is located at the Southern end of the island and is home to the salt fields on Ibiza, which provide impressive views on your drive through. The moon shaped stretch of white sand is a favourite among locals – as well as tourists – with a number of beach clubs along the seafront, including the famous Jockey Club, Malibu and Sa Trinxa. Perfect for a lively day out with friends or family, this hotspot is particularly great for people watching during the height of summer, when you’ll find an interesting array of characters parading through the Salinas catwalk.
Benirras
One of the better-known beaches of the North, Benirrás has gained island fame for its ceremonial sunset drumming at the end of each Sunday. Atmospheric and beautiful in equal measures, the area is surrounded by rocky formations and traditional farmers huts that give it added character. Expect a scattering of hippie stalls on Sunday when broods start gathering to soak up the show and be sure to stop by in one of the two restaurants – Elements & Restaurante 2000 – both offering delicious food and unbelievable views.
Cala Tarida
Situated on the South West side of the island, Cala Tarida and the surrounding beaches are a perfect place for a spot of snorkelling. The sea itself is a spectacular mix of turquoise blue and emerald green, and transparent enough to catch the underwater wildlife at work. With a few beach side restaurants, this is a perfect place to sit back, enjoy the view and indulge in some great paella as you watch the world go by.
Aguas Blancas
One of the few nudist beaches on the island, Aguas Blancas – which translates as White Waters, for the clashing waves when winds are high – is known for its stark, natural beauty with golden sands and turquoise waters enclosed by rocky cliffs. Popular with locals and tourists alike, it’s advised to hit the spot early to catch a good space and ensure enough tanning time before the cliffs shade the beach from around 6pm.
